Sweet Molly and her sister Ellie were found by a volunteer and friend of the shelter. Their mother had lived a miserable life, tied up on a chain and susceptible to the constant pregnancy that life of a dog not spayed ensures. Molly and Ellie’s fate would have been a sure one- to either live a life like their mother had done, or abandoned on a beach to fend for themselves. Luckily, their fate took a turn for the better when they were brought to the shelter and given a fair chance at life. At first, the two sisters were petrified. They were petrified of the new surroundings, every person who came close, the sound of other dogs, the visual sight of other dogs, seeing the wandering cats, eating their food when a human was nearby…everything to them was foreign and seen as a threat. The only thing that seemed to give either of them any comfort, was the knowledge that the other was right by their side. Molly has really struggled to open up since she came to us. However, taking extra treats in her pen every day has definitely helped move her confidence along- even if it's still lacking. It took a while, but she finally took a treat from a person's hand, which was a huge achievement. HUGE! We were so happy, even if it was only the first step. Molly is still very timid, we have tried to bring her around the team and spend time with people. She semi-trusts certain people in the team who have spent more time working with her. Whenever she realizes a human who she doesn’t know is giving her specific attention, she tenses up and starts to shake. But she will happily go up and smell anyone if they aren't looking at her or paying her any attention. In any new surroundings, she will mostly go to the corner. She always knows that her sister Ellie will be in front of her, protecting her. Molly is extremely beautiful and cute, and her legs are definitely proportionately small for her body! Molly and her sister Ellie are real rescue pups, pups who have been through too much in life and carry the mental scars around with them every day. They have already been rescued from their horrible previous life, but they need to be rescued now to a place of consistency, patience and love. Cats and loud children are a no go for Molly. We can't wait to find the people who will save our sweet girl Molly and give her the life that she deserves. Molly and Ellie’s mother was a smaller dog, so they will be smaller when fully grown.
