All proceeds will go towards the construction of our new Animal Shelter here in Saint Lucia. With the shelter built, we can help so many more animals in need. Currently we don’t have the resources to house the large amount of animals needing our help, we are often overcrowded and overrun with what we have. It becomes more and more difficult every litter we bring in, while having to section off quarantine areas to effectively monitor their health.
If we raise enough money, we can have the shelter built and up and running by next year! Our designs include an amazing opportunity for these puppies to get the very best start to their recovery process, with ample indoor and outdoor space, and proper facilities for our care staff! It would even allow us the ability to spay and neuter in our facility.
We’ve already started the process with moving forward in the building of the shelter. We’ve had the land generously donated to us, our blueprints completed, and have had multiple meetings with the quantity surveyor and contractors, and with fundraising is our last step to get things in motion.
The estimated cost to build from scratch is $200-250,000 EC ($100-125,000 CAD). This cost includes making the shelter hurricane proof which is an expensive but vital need, supplying running water , septic tank, electricity, and building outdoor pens in addition to the building for the dogs have space to run freely.
